Black Travel Movement
Black and Abroad is a cultural travel movement dedicated to encouraging and celebrating black world exploration. To combat the notion that African-Americans do not travel, Kent Johnson and Eric Martin created a space where members of our community who visit or are expats living abroad can share their stories and experiences, in hopes of encouraging others to do the same. The black community of travelers has journeyed to over 100 countries on all seven continents, with no signs of stopping. The mission is guided by three principles: Explore the world, Embrace the culture, and Empower the community. They are also big proponents of volunteering and partaking in service projects that empower the African diaspora while encouraging the community to do the same. Black and Abroad pride themselves on showing familiar faces in unfamiliar spaces. Currently, they set up seasonal meetups all across the globe. You can catch them on a t-shirt near you or their website:www.weareblackandabroad.com.
